Mrs. Swick's math group has been learning about area. Students were asked to create their own robot. Once the students had designed their robot, they were asked to find the area of each part. Students then had to find the total area of their robot. Mrs. Swick's students enjoyed being able to create and learn about math at the same time.

Read Across America Day takes place on March 2nd every year . It is an annual awareness program started by the National Education Association. The goal is to motivate and encourage diverse readers to take time out of their day and simply read! Mintonye Elementary staff and students had a week-long celebration for Read Across America with some fun spirit days!
Leap year is a year with one extra day! 2024 will have 366 days instead of the usual 365. February 29th wasn't just an ordinary day in kindergarten at Mintonye. Mrs. Chase's class celebrated with a few extra special activities. With a fun read aloud, they discussed some facts about leap year and talked about what it would be like to celebrate your birthday on February 29th. In Math, they used a number line to leap and add. The class followed the instructions of a directed drawing to learn to draw a frog. The day was complete after creating a fun frog. What will you do with your extra day?
