Fast-paced and interactive is a good way to describe the Extreme Energy STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) convocation presented at Mintonye. Grades kindergarten through fifth grade and staff attended one of two age-appropriate programs.
All learned about:
- forms of energy
- potential energy
- conservation of energy and matter
- weather and climate
Students were full of excitement as presenters shared concepts in where energy comes from and where it goes via controlled explosions, thermal cameras, and people power. They explored how energy is generated and how their daily choices affect their environment. Students could see, feel, and create energy, hands-on, as they climbed inside of a giant snow globe, meant to mimic energy on a molecular level.
