Students throughout the TSC are celebrating Red Ribbon Week through various activities including crazy hair day and pajama day. This year’s theme “Be happy. Be brave. Be drug free,” encourages children to live healthy, happy and drug-free lives. 

At Wyandotte Elementary School, student council members organize a variety of activities, wear red ribbons and create posters that encourage everyone to do the right thing. “Revisiting these important lessons is part of being a good citizen,” says Principal Mary Beth Fitzgerald. “It also compliments our social and emotional learning efforts by emphasizing the importance of being in control of your mind, body and actions.” 

At Dayton Elementary School, students are having fun with a silly sock day to “Sock Out Drugs” and a hat day to “Put a Cap on Drugs.”

Community service projects are being incorporated into Red Ribbon Week at Battle Ground Elementary School. Students in Brenda Klinkhamer’s second grade class are writing thank you letters to members of the Battle Ground Lions Club who deliver food for students through the school’s backpack program.

“Thank you for helping our school and helping people,” writes student Westyn O’Connor. “We need you because you are the best.”

Fifth grade students are creating bookmarks with positive messages. Kaisie Clark went with a Halloween theme for her bookmark: “Don’t trick. Treat people right.” Classmate Dallas Rosenbarger added “Don’t bully people or talk behind their backs,” he says. “Treat people the way you want to be treated.”
