The kindergarten classes at Mintonye had the privilege to attend the Fire Prevention Show on Wednesday, October 9, 2019. The show is performed by the Lafayette Fire Department and provides crucial safety lessons to children, and entertains them with live music and participation on stage. Several Mintonye students were invited on stage to participate in the show. Noah Mascreen, a child in Miss Delp’s kindergarten said, “I liked the part when I went on stage to crawl”. Students crawled across the stage to demonstrate two ways out of a house. Other Mintonye students played the guitar with the band and did the stop, drop, and roll dance. Fire Prevention week happens in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire, which occurred on October 8, 1871. Many fire departments across this nation pay tribute to those who lost their lives in this fire, by educating the public about the dangers associated with fire.
