First Graders at Mintonye Elementary explore the World Through Five Senses
Kristy Delp

For the past several weeks, first graders in Miss Brooks’s class have been on an exciting learning journey exploring the five senses through a variety of informational and fictional texts. Along the way, they discovered how sight, smell, hearing, taste, and touch help us better understand the world around us. They also learned how authors use sensory details to bring their writing to life and make stories more engaging for readers.

To showcase their learning, students created their own “5 Senses Books,” thoughtfully describing what they can see, smell, hear, taste, and touch. The project culminated in a special sharing time, where students proudly read their books aloud to classmates, celebrating their hard work and creativity.
