Kristy Delp

On May 6, fifth grade students at Mintonye Elementary embarked on an unforgettable adventure at Camp Tecumseh, where they enjoyed a day filled with hands-on learning, outdoor activities, and unforgettable experiences. The weather was perfect, providing the ideal backdrop for a day of exploration and fun.

Students participated in a rotation of four engaging stations, each offering a unique educational experience. At Ghost Creek, they became young environmental scientists, examining macroinvertebrates in the water to assess the creek's water quality. This hands-on investigation allowed students to learn about aquatic ecosystems and the importance of monitoring pollution levels. The nature center provided a close encounter with various animals, where students had the opportunity to hold or pet some of the resident creatures, gaining a better understanding of animal behavior and habitats. At the archery range, students tested their aim and focus, honing their skills with bows and arrows. Other stations included canoeing.
